To protect against cancer, President Obama’s team recommends home water filtration –
In its official annual report, the panel also recommends storing and transporting drinking water in non‐plastic containers such as stainless steel bottles.
“This is one of the easiest, and most inexpensive measures a family can take to protect against carcinogens” said Alvin E. Rice, President of Multi‐Pure International. “Water is the very essence of all life, clean water just makes good sense.”
The President’s Cancer Panel is a three‐person body made up of distinguished scientists or physicians. It reports to President Obama on the development and execution of the National Cancer Program.
The panel’s report, titled “Reducing Environmental Cancer Risks: What We Can Do Now” states, “Filtering home tap or well water can decrease exposure to numerous known or suspected carcinogens and endocrine‐disrupting chemicals.” The report goes on to highlight the added importance of protecting children. “To the extent possible, parents and child care providers should choose house products that will minimize children’s exposure to toxic substances.”
In addition, the panel also suggests that contaminants can leach into water from plastic water bottles, and that the use of stainless steel or glass bottles can help reduce exposure to endocrine‐disrupting and other chemicals.
Multi‐Pure International is one of the industry’s most respected manufacturers of water filtration systems and
components. In business since 1970, Multi‐Pure products feature the broadest NSF certified contaminant
reduction claims (NSF Std. 53). Its product selection includes stainless‐steel drinking water bottles. Multi‐Pure
International is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.
